Club Horsemanship

  • For Personal Use Only

Barn lessees can use the leased property for personal use only, for the purpose of quartering horses/mules, feed, and necessary tack and related equipment. Personal use is defined as non-commercial use. The leased property, including any barn or other improvements, can’t be rented or offered for rent on a commercial or business basis, or used as a barter, compensation, remuneration, or speculation. Timeshare of improvements isn’t permitted. Storage of non-equine related items are prohibited.

  • Guests & Invitees

Guests and invitees using the property will be bound and must abide by the club rules. Lessees accept responsibility for the conduct of guests and invitees. Property lessees may allow temporary quartering of guest horses by non-Club members by notifying the Riding Director and outlining the duration of the stay. Lessee may not accept payment or rent for such quartering. Lessee may charge a reasonable cleaning deposit for use of barn/corral.

Because the club is private property, camping, trail-riding, and boarding by non-members is prohibited, unless by invitation as described above. We recommend VS Esquine in Mt. Shasta for non-members looking for these services.

  • Proof of Vaccination

Annual vaccinations are required for any equine kept on SVRC Property by Lessee or any guest. Required vaccines include Influenza, Eastern and Western Encephalomyelitis, Tetanus, Rhino and West Nile. Additional vaccinations may be required by the Board based on known threats in California. Proof of vaccination must be provided to the Riding Director. Shots not provided by a licensed veterinarian must be witnessed by the Riding Director, a Board member, or one of their designees. Equine that are not vaccinated will be required to be removed from the SVRC Property.

  • Hold Harmless

Lessees and guests agree to hold SVRC harmless in the event of any injury to horse/mule, or the death or accident including consequential damages caused to the horse/mule, except if caused by the gross negligence or willful misconduct of SVRC. Lessees and guests shall indemnify, defend and hold SVRC and its officers/directors, harmless from and against any and all claims, actions, lawsuits, damages, liability, judgments, penalties, fines, costs and expenses for any damages to any horse/mule, or other personal property and for any injury to any person, on or about the SVRC Property that relate in any way to the use of the property. The foregoing indemnification shall not, however, extend to damage or injury to the extent caused solely by the gross negligence or solely by the willful misconduct of SVRC.

  • Use of Vacant Barns & Corrals

In order to promote horsemanship, riding activities, fellowship, and fraternalism, SVRC strongly suggests that barn/corral owners who have vacant barns/corrals, allow other club members to use their vacant barns/corrals, upon request. When a request is made for such usage, it will first be made to the barn/corral owner, with written notice given to the Riding Director. The Riding Director is charged with the duties of keeping accurate records of all barn/corral ownership and who owners are allowing to use their barns/corrals. The Riding Director, Lessee, and the member making request for usage, will meet at the barn/corral to conduct a walk-through. The Riding Director will make a record of the condition of the barn/corral, fences, posts, water troughs, barn boards, gates, etc. prior to the user placing his/her horse/mule in the requested space. When the user is finished with the space and prior to removal of the user’s horse/mule, a walk through will again be conducted. Once all parties (user, owner and SVRC) agree on the condition, a User Agreement will be signed by all parties that outlines the term of use, the condition of the barn and other facilities, and responsibility for damage among other conditions. The Lessee may terminate this arrangement with the user at any time. Any sublet of a stall, pen or corral is expressly prohibited by the SVRC Lease Agreement. SVRC retains the right to evict any user at the Lessee's request with Board approval.

  • Stallions Prohibited

The keeping of stallions on club property is prohibited.
